TT.Mk1 Oil Filter Removal
From QuattroWorld Wiki
This comes up pretty often so I took a couple pics when I changed the grey car's oil this weekend. This is on a 225, 180s might be a bit different, 3.2s definitely are.
Looking from about under the transmission towards the front of the car. The intercooler pressure pipe is in the middle of the pic running from left to right. The clip that I'm pointing to holds a coolant line in place. I unclip that line and it opens up a ton of space. Just remember to put it all back in place when you're done!

Here's the view from below looking mostly straight up. I usually use a small screwdriver to gently release the clamp.

And here with the clip off and the hose pushed out of the way.

Again, looking straight up you can see the old filter in place. The large pipe is the intercooler pressure pipe. Upper right of the picture is the cold-start pump. As you can see there's a ton of space to get the filter thru.

And finally getting a wrench on the filter. I use a clamping cup style attachment that grips the filter the more you push on it. That goes on the end of a long handled 3/8" drive swivel head ratchet. The handle passes down between the pressure pipe and cold-start pump and there's plenty of leverage to get the filter loose.
