TT.Mk1 Rear Differential Oil Replacement

How-To (it's been a long time!): Rear Differential Oil Replacement... A relative easy job, not on a maintenance interval. My fluid was darker that new, and there was minimal build up of metal (wear) flakes on the magnetic drain plug. Probably not a real need to do it, but not too expensive, so what the heck...

Fluid required: 1 liter
Tightening torque (both plugs): 25 Nm (18 ft-lb)

Open drain plug (17 mm Allen):

Drain fluid (it is "motor oil" and can be recycled with normal engine oil):

Clean the drain plug of its flakes:

Replace drain and open fill hole (17 mm Allen again):

New oil (available at VW as well):

Pump in a new liter of fluid, plug the hole, and you're good to go:
